Scarborough: things to do and places to meet
Scarborough has the best landscape in Toronto and the least of the attention. The Bluffs are a genuine cliff face over the lake; Rouge Park is a national park inside a city; and the food along Lawrence and Kingston Road is the reason people drive out here on purpose.
4 places to meet here
These are the public places Churr suggests for a first meeting in this part of the city. Each one was picked for being easy to find, easy to describe, and easy to leave.
Bluffer’s Park
Down at the water under the cliffs. The only beach in the city with a wall behind it.
Scarborough Bluffs lookout
The top of the cliffs, looking out at nothing but lake. Stay back from the edge.
Rouge Beach
Where the Rouge meets the lake, at the end of the Lakeshore East line.
Guild Park and Gardens
Salvaged stone facades standing in a lawn above the lake. Strange and very quiet.
Free things that happen here anyway
No calendar required — these run all year, or near enough.
- Bluffer’s Park, under the cliffs, which does not look like it belongs in this city at all.
- Rouge National Urban Park, which is a national park you can reach on the TTC.
- The Guild Park sculpture grounds, an outdoor collection of salvaged building fronts that is free and strange and quiet.

Meeting people in Scarborough
The advice that works everywhere works here too: pick something that repeats, go six times before you judge it, and be the one who suggests the next thing. The longer version →
Or let your twin do the suggesting. Churr introduces you to people in your part of Toronto with a first thing to do already agreed.
