The Beaches: things to do and places to meet
The Beaches is a small seaside town that happens to be inside Toronto. A boardwalk, a long main street, and a rhythm that is noticeably slower than anywhere west of the Don. Worth the trip east even if you do not live there.
3 places to meet here
These are the public places Churr suggests for a first meeting in this part of the city. Each one was picked for being easy to find, easy to describe, and easy to leave.
Kew Gardens
Where the boardwalk meets Queen East. Bandstand, shade, and ice cream.
The Beaches boardwalk
Three kilometres of flat wood by the lake. Walk and talk, no plan needed.
Woodbine Beach
Volleyball nets, sand and space. Windy — bring a jacket even in July.
Free things that happen here anyway
No calendar required — these run all year, or near enough.
- The boardwalk, any time, in any weather. It is three kilometres long and it is the whole point of the neighbourhood.
- Queen Street East on a Saturday, which is a main street you can walk the length of without hurrying.
- Kew Gardens, which has a bandstand and usually something happening under it in summer.

Meeting people in The Beaches
The advice that works everywhere works here too: pick something that repeats, go six times before you judge it, and be the one who suggests the next thing. The longer version →
Or let your twin do the suggesting. Churr introduces you to people in your part of Toronto with a first thing to do already agreed.
