Parkdale & High Park: things to do and places to meet
Parkdale and High Park are where the city gets green and stays interesting. High Park alone is four hundred acres you can lose an afternoon in, and Roncesvalles and Queen West Parkdale give you a main street on either side of it.
3 places to meet here
These are the public places Churr suggests for a first meeting in this part of the city. Each one was picked for being easy to find, easy to describe, and easy to leave.
High Park
Big enough for a proper walk. Agree on a gate, not on "the park".
Roncesvalles
One street, everything on it, and a streetcar out at both ends.
Humber Bay Arch Bridge
The white arch over the river mouth. Twenty minutes and the best photo in the west end.
Free things that happen here anyway
No calendar required — these run all year, or near enough.
- High Park on a weekend morning: trails, the pond, the zoo, and enough space that you are never crowded.
- The cherry blossoms in spring, which are genuinely worth the crowd for about ten days a year.
- A walk down Roncesvalles, which is the most pleasant twenty minutes of shopping street in the city.

Meeting people in Parkdale & High Park
The advice that works everywhere works here too: pick something that repeats, go six times before you judge it, and be the one who suggests the next thing. The longer version →
Or let your twin do the suggesting. Churr introduces you to people in your part of Toronto with a first thing to do already agreed.
