Midtown: things to do and places to meet
Midtown is Toronto’s quiet middle: Yonge and Eglinton for the density, the ravines for the escape, and a set of neighbourhoods that are easier to actually live in than to visit. Meeting here usually means a park or a coffee rather than an event.
5 places to meet here
These are the public places Churr suggests for a first meeting in this part of the city. Each one was picked for being easy to find, easy to describe, and easy to leave.
Yorkville
The rock in the park is a landmark nobody misses, and the coffee is a minute away.
The Annex
Bloor at Spadina: bookshops, cheap lunch, and a subway underneath you.
Edwards Gardens
Formal gardens that run straight into a ravine trail. Quiet on a weekday morning.
Sunnybrook Park
Fields, horses and the Don trail. Big enough that you should name a car park.
Aga Khan Park
Reflecting pools and hard geometry. Free, calm, and unlike anywhere else in the city.
Free things that happen here anyway
No calendar required — these run all year, or near enough.
- The Beltline Trail, an old rail line turned into a nine-kilometre walk through the middle of the city.
- The Evergreen Brick Works weekend market, and the trails around it, which feel nothing like a twenty-minute trip from downtown.
- Sunnybrook Park and the ravine system it sits in, which is the biggest piece of green in the middle of the city.

Meeting people in Midtown
The advice that works everywhere works here too: pick something that repeats, go six times before you judge it, and be the one who suggests the next thing. The longer version →
Or let your twin do the suggesting. Churr introduces you to people in your part of Toronto with a first thing to do already agreed.
